The Government said, the point based skilled workers’ visa, E-7-4 visa, in the fields of manufacturing, fishing and agriculture may apply for a new visa to extend their stay through changing their E9 visa to E-7-4 visa.

This new visa has launched to solve facing serious labor shortages in the above sectors for securing experienced skilled expats workers (E9 visa holders).

This new visa system will greatly contribute to stable supply of skilled labors for the above sectors.

Under the new visa, E-7-4 visa, can extend it every two years upon a review, which will allow them to live in Korea continuously once they meet the requirements based on points.
For current a skilled worker’s visa, E-7 visa quota has already been closed this year, the Ministry of Justice will issue 300 additional visas for the remainder of the this year as a part of demo program. Next year’s quota for E-7-4 visa will be set after consulting with relevant ministries at the end of this year.

***E-7-4 visa: Points based skilled worker’s VISA***
The Skilled workers E-7-4 visa consists of major items to meet points such as skilled level of industry, education, age, Korean language ability, domestic assets, domestic work experience in related fields, optional job training experience etc.

The points are totally 180 points, including a maximum 80 points for required items and a maximum of 100 points for selected items.

***Qualification to apply for E-7-4 visa***
신청 대상자

**1. An E9 visa holder with a score of “Proficiency (Workmanship=skillfulness)” of industrial contribution value of 10 points or more and total points of 50 or more out of 180 points;
e9비자를 소지하고 해당 산업 기여 가치를 환산해서 ‘숙련도’ 점수가 10점 이상인 자로 총 득점이 50점 이상인 e9visa 소지자;

**2. An E9 visa holder with having total points of 35 at the required items and total points of 70 or higher out of 180 points.
필수항목 합계 점수가 35점 이상인 자로 총 득점이 70점 이상인 E9 visa 소지자

THIS IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE FOR E9 VISA HOLDER WHO HAVE WORKED HERE IN KOREA MORE THAN 4 YEARS. ONLY 300 ADDITIONAL E9 VISA HOLDERS MAY APPLY FOR E-7-4 VISA THIS YEAR.

THIS NEW VISA WILL BE STARTED FROM AUG. 1, 2017 TO DEC. 31, 2017 AS A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.
